There's nothing wrong with port-matching the intake to the heads, but research has shown little to no gains. The LT1 intake is about as good as it gets right out of the box.

isn't the stock intake only 52mm, making the 58mm TB pointeless without opening it up?

There is also alot of debate wether a larger TB does any good for a motor less than 450hp.

I have yet to see proof of the benefit myself.

However, I would really like to see dyno sheets or time slips that prove the need for it.

Porting ur intake is abolutely useless unless u plan on porting your heads as well. The only way to maximize your gains from heads and intake is to get them port matched as earlier stated. This way u ensure even flow throughout the engines duty cycles

Bad idea. You don't want to do anything more than light polishing of the runners or you'll have intake ports that are larger than the head's intake runners. This will create some turbulence and not to mention throw the pcm/blms off.

I ran a ported intake because I traded mine as a core for a while. Had split blms until I was finally able to pick up a stocker.

If anything, it would most likely HURT performance.

I see nothing wrong with portmatching the runners to the heads and matching the throttle body, but that'd be it. You'll definitely hurt performance if you don't enlarge the throttle body openings.

Well, I did a light porting on my intake matching it to my heads and left the runners alone. I went from a 14.02 to a 13.66 and picked up 1.5 mph. Now, before anyone says it's due to driving, I ran my car for close to two years and 50+ passes at the dragstrip with a bonestock best of 14.024 at 101mph. I ported the intake and my first pass at the dragstrip was a 13.66 and the 60' was only a 2.17. My previous best 60' was a 2.101. No other mods at all.

Lest some become confused, port matching is NOT porting. The former is basically cosmetic. The later usually require adding material to work with.
