Does catback affect cutout sound
Re: Does catback affect cutout sound
I wanted to figure this out too, i would assume it does cause you still hear sound and have exhaust coming out the back tips, well atleast i did when i ran a cutout with stock exhaust.
Re: Does catback affect cutout sound
The only thing that will change the sound of the cut-out is
1. where you stick the cut-out(s) obviously if you stick two cut-out right after the headers its going to be louder than if you have one in the y pipe.
2. If you running cat(s) it will also change the exhuast note. Also im going to say it depends on the shape of the cat(s) and manufact. as all companies use diff materials and techniques.
A catback exhuast really doesnt have an effect on the sound because the cut-out(s) allows the exhuast to exit before the muffler. some exhuast will still go past the cut-out(s) through the muffler creating maybe alittle sound but not enough to hear over the cut-out(s) or change the sound of the car in general.

Re: Does catback affect cutout sound
A little exhaust still exits through the catback itself, but a majority goes through the cutout which easily overwhelms any exhaust notes created by the catback. Therefore, I would have to agree that the catback has little effect on the tone of the cutout.
Re: Does catback affect cutout sound
accually it wil affect it some what, not in the loudness but in the pitch depending on how freely the muffler flows, im not a scientist but i know from experiance that it does, try it and youll see, but its not enuff to make your catback choice based on the cut out sound...
