Why not the 160* thermostat? Many people run them, including myself.

I wanted to get a 170 as a nice compromise between the 160 and 180 so I won't have problems in the winter. Does anyone make a 170 that your aware of?

Install a 160 stat and program your fans to come on at 170. No 170 stats around that I am aware of.

Your fans would run all the time with that setting. Really not necessary to try to keep it that cool. The fan motors would wear out sooner and there would be more constant drag on the alternator to make the power to run them.

AFAIK there are no 170° t-stats out there for LTx motors.

Not to hi jack your thread but does anyone run a thermo cooler than 160?
I use one and run one bottle of Purple Ice ( royal purple's water wetter) and my temps are still around 200-225. I would like to stay under 200 if I could.

Anyone??

If you have a 160° thermostat, then just reprogram your fans to a cooler temperature (Mine are 170/175). That's why even with a cooler T-stat it's still getting that warm.

Never seen one for an LT1 cooler than 160. If your running temps are that high, a cooler thermostat is not going to cure it.

Yes, use a super-coolant, such as Purple Ice.

Found 170 LT1 stat

Thank you for everyones input. Here's the deal. Be Cool use to carry a 170 deg F thermostat made by Cooper Standard. They stopped carrying them because Cooper Standard did not delivery enough on time and Be Cool stopped carrying all thermostats. I contacted Cooper Standard and they refered me to their distributor. They have then in stock so I bought a couple. I saw a picture and it is the correct dual spring with the disk.
