Unhappy Does anyone have, or know where to get, just a starter solenoid?

My starter solenoid is busted and every auto parts store will only sell the starter as a whole unit.

Does anyone know where I can buy just the solenoid? (I called GM, NAPA, Pep Boys, Autozone, and Advanced with no luck.)

Does anyone have a busted starter laying around that still has a good solenoid?

I don’t want to pay $159 for a starter if all that is broken is a 10$ part.

Thanks,
-Jason

Cool thanks!

Yeah, I ended up taking apart the one I had and repairing it (I don't know if it works yet though). What happened was one of the contacts was eaten away inside. I have a feeling that happened because my starter is going and is drawing a lot of current. So, I am thinking that my starter is on its way out. But we'll see.

I think it's a dealer item, because I replaced my starter bushings, which is a dealer item too.

I doubt you will find anythng at other than a repair shop. No one sells just the solenoid.

NAPA Auto sold me just the solenoid, it was 10-15 bucks, mines been working for about 15-20,000 miles http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/nc...arter+solenoid their online store says 45 bucks, I know I didn't pay that, tomorrow I'm gonna call them and see what my store says
heres another store for cheaper http://buyautoparts-online1.com/murrays-auto-part/

Its usually the solenoid that goes bad, unless the gear is all worn I would just replace the solenoid

Check the books/computer at work, it only shows a replacement to '93 and not serviced separately for '94-on.......

I looked at those two sites above, and they only had them for the '93, like n2ceptor said.
