Does anyone have Dyno #'s for any cam with stock heads?
Does anyone have Dyno #'s for any cam with stock heads?
Im looking for dyno numbers on an LT1 Engine that has STOCK heads and some aftermarket cam. Be it a hotcam,CC306, XE 230/236, or what ever. Please include you dyno numbers, cam, and what LSA that is on.
I am NOT looking for people that THINK they know how much they are going to put out, anyone that has home ported their heads or have aftermarket heads.
Im ONLY looking for a stock head-aftermarket cam set-up. And ONLY dyno numbers.
Sorry to make it like this but if you read through other posts noone ever stays on the topic.

Yes, that was exactly the type of info I was looking for. BTW nice web page.
I should lay down around a 12.65-12.75 out at the track next time. Best ime was a 12.94 so far and that was without the following: SFC's, LCA's w/ relocating brackets, R/R drag airbag, TransGO shift kit, Flowmaster Y-Pipe and the 3" exhaust I have now from my headers to my cut-out. I dynoed 275 RWHP and will be taking it again this Saturday to re-tune everything and see if I can get a little more out of it.
Thats a nice time with just a cam. The reason I posted the question was... I already have a new set of heads that are on the car that have all the goodies in them, however they are not ported. I would hate to take the heads off again. Thats why I was asking about stock heads with a cam. Im all set up to run a cam but have not decided what i should do.
I have a set of bare heads that have had a "stage 3 " port job in the garage. They are hogged out like a SOB! But it will cost me about $700 to finish them.
And besides my engine has 111,000 miles on it. Maybe I should just say screw it, and wait for it to go and finish the 396 I am going to start to work on. have the heads and am looking for a LT4 bare block.

I was kind thinking along that line too. I was figuring about a 30+ RWHP gain with maybe a XE 230/236.
Heres what I am looking for in a cam. Something that does not rev to the moon to make power. I would like to keep my engine under 6200 RPM when making all the power.

Vulva dumped ~400 RW on a 93 (with a tune not setup for him), on a 244/244 -114 solid roller, thats the most I've heard of on a stock set of heads (for the LT1). His car got toasted at some point a few months back. JimS on the board knows him, I dont see Vulva hardly at all.
I also heard of a Texan putting out 355 RW on an M6 car with a 306.

Yeah Frank, but your car is a freak
Here is why I am asking. I will try and make it short...
I have a car now that I know once the Texas skys clear up and I can get back to the track is very well capable the way it sits to run 12.7-12.75 with 1.65-1.70 60 foot times. Now the engine has 111,000 miles on it and the top end has been basically rebuilt along with the A4.
I have a set of heads that have had some very good craftsamn work done to them in the porting catagory. Will be expecting 260+ intake and 200+ exhaust on the flow bench. Right now the heads are bare. It will run me about another $450 in parts and machine work to finish them and thats with reusing some of my parts I have on the heads that are on the car(already have 10308-1 Carne Springs, 1.6RR's, Guide Plates, ARP Screw-IN-Studs and COmp Cam Pushrods. Only 4500 miles on them.) But would it be worth it to slap these heads on the engine now? Take in consideration the miles.
Then if you add a cam, lifters, timing chain, and new gaskets I will be looking at least $550 in parts.
So here are the choices....(1) I sell the heads and get use the money to do a cam and etc. while reusing the heads that are on the car now. (2) I slap the heads and cam package on. Since I am flat broke for mods for my car this probably wont get done until October. (3) I finish the heads and save them for a buiding a stroker. Then again it wont get done until summer of 2004.
What would you all do? Could I do something now to the engine to make sure it will take the extra HP on such a high milage car? The engine right now does not give me a bit of problems. But Im sure someday soon it will take a crap...

I dont remember the TQ #, but my friend Adam's 96 Z28 with LT4 HC and 1.6rr's with Mac Headers and stock heads did 337 HP. Thats with a flowmaster CB, FIPK and no tuning. It ran a 8.19 on Nittos. in the 1.8th
