its either a 2 or a 3 series carrier, if your rearend came with 2.73s then you have the 2 series and will need to upgrade to a 3 series carrier if you plan on doing gears. If you have 3.23 or 3.42s then you will have the 3 series and will not need to upgrade. Speaking in F-body gear ratios, vettes will vary, i think they have a 2.59, and a 3.07. Anyway, you get the jist of it.

i belieive the 2002 fbodies have a diff size ring and pinion, but before that you could take the gears out of a s-10 and throw it in your camaro

Actually, you can buy 3 series gears that will work on a 2 series carrier. They just make the ring gear thicker.

Nope, nothing specifically different about the 2002.

i do have the crappy 2.73s, so it will be fine buying a set of 3.42s or 3.73s to put in them without doing anything to the carrier?

Nope, you don't have to change the carrier.
FWIW, don't buy Richmond gears unless you like to hear gear whine.

You will not have to change the carrier. dont listen to them people I have a brand new set of 3.42 from strange that allows you to use them in a series two. checkout thunderracing and you should find them.

I didn't tell him anything different than you did, except which type of gears not to get.
