Do you have over 150k on your original engine?

If you've owned it since new (or at least know the previous owner's oil change habits) and have got over 150,000 miles on your LT1 with no rebuilds, could you tell me what oil and oil filters you've used, what viscosity and what kind of interval?

I asked a similar thread on BOBISTHEOIL's message board, and have gotten a lot of good responses, and figured the info on here would be a very interesting to a lot of us on here, to see what has been working well in the LT1 engine.

I'm not even at 100k on mine yet, and have no idea of it's oil change history before 56k so I can't add my info to the list.

well my cousin had my car before me and he sold it to me at 88k. I think he bought the car around 45k.

We have always ran 10W-30 Synthetic. Im not too picky about brands, but always run 100% synthetic. I have heard some horror stories about fram filters, but I still use them. Its always been changed around 3k-4k mile intervals. I have a 146k on my 94 orginal motor. turned a recent best of 8.42 in the 1/8th and 13.30 in the quarter mile.

180k miles, have run Mobil 1 5w30 since 10k miles, and Fram or AC filters. After hearing about Frams problems, I tend to use AC now. Plus, I can usually get them chaep at Walmart, Kmart, etc.

BTW, mine burns less than 1/2 quart eack 5k miles - not to shabby for a Chevy with 180k!

I have 130,000 on the stock bottom end. Castrol Syntec from about 60,000 until I learned better. Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 filter every 3,000 miles from about 70,000 miles.

I'm half way there, 75K. I've been using either Royal Purple or Mobil 1 and either a Fram or Mobil 1 filter. I hope it will last 150k+, but I'm starting on my stroker as soon as my new block arrives.

170000 the only thing ive change was the water pump at 135000 miles, not even the opti. bought the car with 32000 on it.

i change the oil about every 3 to 4000 mile and run 10w 30 conventional oil. and the engine still has about 30 lbs of pressure at idle at 180 degrees. and runs no less than 43 to 45lbs at 2000 rpms at 180 degrees. and about 65lbs on start up.

ive used delco oil filters for about the last 2 years now and not fram thanks to this site.

Sorry, I don't have 150, but I do have 135.

I don't know what type of oil was used originally, but I assume it was dino oil. I do know that it had a rigorous maintainance schedule. It was very well maintained.

When I bought it I it had 132 and I switched over to Amsoil. Obviously, it's too soon to draw any conclusions regarding the synthetic oil, however, it did make 330lb/ft at the rear wheels, and this was a B-Body LT-1.

240,000...i havent been real good about oil changes though. i try to change it around 3-4k miles but have gone 8 on one and 11 on another when i first bought it.

so i guess if you really took care of it like i DIDN'T, it would last a good while!

Well I have 135k here with heads and cam on for the last 10k. I bought the car with 79k on it, and it had dyno oil with generic filters before me. I began using 10w30 mobil 1 oil, and either Purolator PureOne filters or ACdelco ultraguard gold, but for the last year and a half have used STP. Does not use any oil, and two oil changes ago switched to mobil 1 0w40(and love it).

184,xxx here, a few minor leaks here and there but otherwise no problems. Doesn't burn any oil and still has 25-30psi of oil pressure at idle when hot. I've had the intake and valve covers off a few times and the motor looks very clean inside. A bit of varnish buildup but zero sludge.

I almost always use Mobil 1 10w-30 with a AC Delco PF35 or 1218 filter on a 5,000 mile interval. When money was tight I did use Castrol GTX a few times. I bought the car with 118k on it so I have no idea what kind of oil the previous owner used.

Oh yeah, I believe I'm on the original opti as well

Dead at 151,xxx due to 150 shot of nitrous. The parts just couldn't handle that much power. But up until then 10w30 and a purolator filter, used to put mobil 1 in it but the oil leaks cost a fortune to top off. All of my engine problems were not due to lack of oil changes however.

240k is amazing, did you use synthetics or conventional oil?
