do you have to change the oilpump drive gear to match a comp. cam?
I just took mine out while dissassembling the eng. to rebuild it. the teeth are gouged up a little, and I dont think they were like that when I put the cam in there 300 mi.s ago. the #8 rod bearing is pretty chewed up, so it seems something HAD to get in the oil to do this. there was no coolant or debris in the oil/pan/pump screen to have caused the bearings to go out so quickly.
so Im just wondering if anyone else noticed there oil pump drive gear messed up before or after a cam swap.

If your oil pump drive gear was messed up, it was not entirely on the teeth of the cam gear. Or you got some dirt on the cam gear or the pump gear. So many factors but the one is they should not self destruct due to the cam gear's metal being compatible with the oil pump drive. It was only an issue with billett steel gears and bronze.

yeah, well thats what I figured. since I didnt hear of anyone ever haveing to change it before. Im gonna have to check the alignment of the teeth, cause I knwo for a fact it was clean andI upt assembly luibe on it when I installed it.
