Angry Do Not Buy From Speedautomotive!

Reference this earlier thread for the full story: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=101525

In short, Scott at SpeedAutomotive in Cleveland, TN has dragged his feet on shipping parts that were paid for 2 months earlier, hangs up on his customers and calls them names, and refuses to provide any information to his customers when they call for assistance.

DO NOT BUY FROM SPEEDAUTOMOTIVE! Scott will make you regret it.

-Chris

Wow! Thats some shady stuff!

Why would he or anyone in that matter-treat customers like that?

Thanks for the warning, i've remember in the past where EVERYONE was referring others to them...

Take this how you want to, good or bad, just wanted to give another idea:

While I never dealt with the customer service bit of Speed Automotive, I do know that when the bodyshop that fixed my car ordered a door a year ago it took about 4-6 weeks to get there because they were "building a crate" for it. I did see the crate, and it was gorgeously done, but I don't see how it could have taken that long. Anyways, just thought I'd throw this out as a second opinion.

All I have to say is that I bought my 6 speed conversion kit from there, and everything went ok. I got a bad tranny, and they did everything above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that I was happy. I guess things can change, because this was about a year ago.

Question

I dealt with Scott personally when i ordered from them last summer. Got my order, and crate within the week of placing it. The shipping was even more than they quoted so they credited my account over the phone just on my word. They had even volunteered to throw in some spare parts for free, then they forgot to enclose them, so then they 2 day shipped them for free. Nothing but good results for my from SpeedAutomotive! Sorry, you guys had such bad luck. Hope things get fixed up.

I too had a less than steallar experience with Scott@Speedautomotive.

A while back I ordered a replacement rack and pinion from them for $75 + shipping. It arrived about a week later, well packaged but it was missing one of the two external hydraulic lines. This was a bit of a problem since I had planned on installing it the next day.

I called Scott and explained the situation. He insisted they would have not removed anything that wasn't nessecary to get the rack off the car. I explained this part was no where near any of the mounting bolts and it definately didn't need to be removed to get the rack off. He still insisted he was right.

I had anticipated this might happen so earlier I took a picture of the rack putting big ol red circles showing where the missing part was supposed to be. I emailed this to him while we were on the phone but was getting annoyed and said "Call back later beacuse I have customers on the line". WTF? Aren't I customer as well? I suppose you quit being a "customer" after they have your money...

Anyways I call back 30min later, and he finally agreed to ship me the missing part. I ask when it will get here and he says "It'll probably go out Mon or Tues." (this was on a Thurs afternoon BTW).

So basically they screwed up, denied it was their problem, then expected me to wait another 4-5 days for them to ship a part that would take less than 5min to remove.

Well its 2 months later I still don't have it and doubt I ever will. At this point they have lost my business over a $5 piece I had already paid for. Customer service at its worst...

Just an idea, maybe for a sticky, but couldn't we use the poll system or something similar to rate different vendors? Almost like a good/bad vendor FAQ? Just something to think about maybe.

I like that idea. It would be a valuable service to members here to have the benefit of others' experiences, both good and bad, with vendors.

I dunno.

Scott seems like a cool guy.

If he makes a mistake he usually tries to make it right.

Just like any other business, you're going to have your quirks.

He hasn't ever ripped me or any of my friends off.

A friend of mine ordered a 383 from them back in September. (supposed time, 6 weeks) January they get the motor with the wrong pistons. Back to the shop, they get it back about 2.5 months later, finally right.

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from them including a 97+ console and ls1 brakes. Scott was great to talk to on the phone, he seemed like a pretty cool guy. Anyways, I ordered on a Friday afternoon, said it would go out on Mon. or Tues., and I got it on Wed. Everything arrived in good condition, and this was just a couple weeks ago. I can't complain.
