Do i really need the SLP Header install kit?

I am going to be buying SLP shorty headers for my 97 Z. I plan on buying stage 8 locking bolts and header gaskets.

What comes with the SLP install kit? Anything special that i need?

I did have to fab some stuff to make my headers work (it was the EGR pipe that when from the exhaust manigold back to the engine I think), but I would say call up SLP and ask what comes in the kit. If you can not do any fabrication I would say get the kit. You can always purchase better gaskets.

no you dont need it, i put my old SLP shorties in w/o any modificatino or trouble took about 3 hrs to do, i sold them though cuz they leaked all the time and only gained 1ft lb rwt on the dyno, so i dumped em for LT's

The kit comes with header bolts, collector bolts, gaskets, fire sleeves, the EGR tube, and the AIR hoses you need. In the end, the only parts I used were the bolts and the collector gaskets. I bought Fel-Pro header gaskets because everyone seems to recommend them. I will need the EGR tube and AIR hoses when I go to smog. The EGR is disconnected and blocked at the header with a plate right now. The AIR is disconnected and capped with Home Depot galvanized pipe caps on each side.

You'll probably be OK without the kit if you are buying bolts, gaskets, etc. separately.
