Do I really have to?

Would I have to rebuild my engine to put a camkit in it even if its not that big this guy told me that I would have to and i was thinkin if I were to go with the lt4 hot cam kit which i probably won't go with just a example.....oh yeah car has about 130,xxx miles on it by the way....

If you've got good oil pressure and good compression, there's no reason you couldn't do a cam swap without rebuilding. It's commonplace.

If the engines mechanically sound now theres no reason to rebuild it just to put a cam in it. You will most likely need new springs to match the cam, a new timing set is a good idea too.

my engine (old LS1) started knocking 1k after when I did a hi-milage (90k) cam swap. Of course when I tore it down I realized the oil pickup o-ring was pinched and almost completely broken on one spot, so it wasn't the cam that killed my car it was me.
