Do I need the Valve Springs Shims for the LT4 hot came kit?
I am collecting parts for my cam swamp and noticed that if you buy the KIT PN #12480002
You get 16 valve spring shims P/N 10212809. I was only going to buy the LT4 springs/LT4 caps/LT4 Keys. (Already have the rr's and cam).
MY question is do I need the shims and what do they do. Thanks.

I Believe the shims allow you to intall the springs at the proper heights in order to get the pressures required for your installation.
Your springs info will provide the pressures at certain installed heights.JMHO

Anyone know the part # for a LT4 valve spring Shim pckg? All I can find on GMPartsDirect is GM PART # 10212809 which says it has a Quantity: 10 at $0.57

These valve spring shims are used on 1996 LT4 Corvette engines as well as the special LT service-only heads P/N 12363287. These are light weight caps. Technical Notes: Use with spring P/N 12551483.
What the heck, why is the quantity only 10?

Dunno, but I' careful of ordering anything from GM Parts Direct, unless you ge a heck of a deal, since they usually make up for the lower price by charging you high freight. JMHO
