Do I need a new oil pan for a 396 strkr

I'm getting a 396 short block from combination. I talked to Sam already about it and he said I didn't the canton pan, that i could get away with using my stock pan with just a little clearancing.
Has anybody used their stock pan?

Thanks Aaron

Big hammer and knock it out from the inside. You will have to clearance the canton pan too.

I'm in the process of finishing a 383 stroker, and I was able to use my stock pan. Didn't even have too beat on it.

Thank you both. The canton is just too expensive. By the way, what type of oil are you using.

Have you turned the motor over with the pan bolted bolted down???

Oil, break in just use some cheapo oil. 10w-30. Dont use synthetic on break in. After you have changed the oil a bunch of times within the first 200 miles, you can go synthetic.

Just built a 383 for my friend, no modifications needed for the oil pan, guess I'll find out for my 396 when it goes together.
