Do I need to get my shift points reprogrammed with a higher stall?

I'm putting a 3500 stall in shortly. Should I have my shift points reprogrammed? If so, what should they be changed to?

Motor is stock. Car just has bolt ons.

I think shift firmness will be more of an issue. It's pretty common for stall convertors to soften up the shifts, so a shift kit or even bumping the line pressure through the PCM is a good idea. Altering shift points won't help much on a predominantly stock car.

My car surged pretty bad when I lifted off the throttle and coasted, and mine is only a 2800stall, reprogramming fixed it, the shift firmness is a good point as well.

yep you will need some work there. you will probably have to work in the normal shift and the kick down shift tables.

down you have tuner cat? will you be doing the programming. or are you having it done
