Do I have to use the spacer that came with the crank hub bolt???

Do I have to use the spacer that came with the crank hub bolt???

I'm sorry this is the last crank hub thread as I'm just as sick of it as you guys are. I just wanted to know if there is anything special about that washer/spacer.

I'm pretty sure it will bottom out without it....also it functions as a washer to "lock" the bolt in place. If you lost it or something I would either buy a new one or cut the bolt down some.

Im actually no longer using a stock sized bolt. I went through a bunch of drama and ended up helicoiling the hub bolt hole and installing new threads. So in turn the bolt I'm using is 1/2 inch shorter than the stocker. It will fit like that but it would grab more thread if I used a thinner washer. I could cut it down I suppose... I'd like to use that spacer too I was just wondering if anybody did the !spacer mod . If I cut the bolt down there is a chance it won't catch when I try to thread it.
