i usually go by, if the muffler is welded on its just the muff, if it isnt, its more than likely a catback

Nope, my stock exhaust is not mandrel bent. It's pretty easy to tell it's constricted a little around the turns, and it also has those waves (not ripples) in the piping that all press bent pipes seem to have. I say this because the Gibson cat-back I have on my Jeep is mandrel bent and the tailpipe is perfectly uniform with no ripples or waves and no constrictions in the bends because it is mandrel bent. If factory pipes were mandrel bent, then very few cat baks would be sold. It would just be mufflers sold.

Sorry, the original drawings call it out. They are mandrel bent. Mandrel bending doesn't necessarily preclude bend or tangent deformation, it just lessens it dramatically compared to compression bending. Mandrel bending reduces cross-sectional area reduction to less than 10%. Compression bending can reduce CSA by 20% or more. On deep bends even with a mandrel, there can be some visible reduction in the bends.

I like my flowmaster sound, course I have a highflow cat, and if i want it louder ill use my dmh cutouts. But even when it was just a muffler w/ stock pipes ect, i thought it sounded better than the bullet or loud mouth, I havent heard the hooker muffler before in person though.

It can constrict at the bends from mandrel bending. There are different types of ways to do mandrel bending, some better than others. Stock is mandrel bent... Look at the exhaust shop non-mandrel bending machines and you'll notice they look way way worse then the stock pipes.
