Do Hypertech make a failsafe 160 tstat?
IMO all parts will eventually fail.
I have a 160* thermo by hyphertech. Its working just fine however I only expect it to survive as long as the OEM. No more no less. If it last longer it will be a bonus.

Edit: BIG OOPS... I just realized you are referring to the 160 thermo being replaced... Well, I havent heard of an upgraded/failsafe version.

The Hypertech 160 that I bought had a hole pre-drilled in the platter (?) for steam ventilation. But it's not large enough to flow enough coolant if the unit fails.
As far as I know, there are no thermostats that are failsafe. They are normally closed because of spring pressure, when they fail there is nothing to overcome the spring. They stay closed.
Hmm... Makes you wonder why someone doesn't design one that works in reverse. You know a "pull" spring that opens the diaphram with a heat element that tries to pull it closed until the temp is reached. Hmm....
Any inventors on this board?

Crappy tire has failsafe tstats, had them for quite some time. But they are not Hypertech and I can not get one in 160 for my car.
What happens is if they fail, they still allow coolant into the engine...something like that.
