do GMPP guideplates line up well??
My comp ones dont. So, I have been contemplating isky ones, but from what I read the GM ones seem to be good to go. So, anyone had trouble with the GM guideplates? My roller tip of the rocker on some are only half on the valve tip. Now, I already know that isnt good, so dont post WTF. I had to get it together for dyno day. Now that its over, I need to get them swapped out asap. I really dont want to buy GM ones, tear into it, only to find they line up like poo too. So, I want to make sure they are the way to go. I dont want to weld on my heads, so I want to make the GM ones work.
So, anyone have any trouble with them lining up? I am using pro mags. I want at least the WHOLE roller tip to be on the valve tip. It doesn't have to be centered perfectly, but I at least want the roller 100% on the tip. So, if anyone has not had this happen with GM plates, post up and let me know.
Also, if anyone has had excellent luck with them, let me know too, so I can decide quickly which route to go!
Thanks!
Cody

Re: do GMPP guideplates line up well??
lol not yet. Very soon though 1racerdude! Im gonna try to do it tomorrow morning at work. I need to get those swaped out asap, as I didn't like the alignment at all. Like I previously stated, I had to get the motor in the car and out of the shop and on the road breaking it in for the dyno day unfortunately...

Mine didn't line up well at all. Had several pushrods rubbing the guideplates. Went to the Isky adjustable guideplates and things are all good. Good Luck.

My buddy just put comp guides on his LE2 setup and is rockers are very much offset, we are switching to the GM's tomarrow will take some pics and also we will see if the pushrods are ok.
Re: do GMPP guideplates line up well??
To answer my own question... I just installed them today. I am happier than a pig in a mud hole!
Side to side the promags lined up very nice. Only two rockers were not completely on the valve tip, and they were only off by about 10%. The other ones were fully on top of the vavle. As far as pushrods rubbing in the middle of the plate... I had the studs just finger tight, then pushed out on the guideplate, (towards the headers) and then snugged them down. Then I torqued them to 35 foot pounds. Doing it that way pushed the guideplate as far as she would go, and the pushrod didn't touch the crotch of the slot. (hehe I crack myself up sometimes!)
I would recomend the GM ones to ANYONE! Comp ones suck ***** for the LT1 head. Been there, done that.
