I have been lurking around this post for a while and decided to reply and give some info from my home porting experience. Last winter a friend of mine convinced me to try the home porting thing and it seemed to work pretty well. The friend of mine did alot of the rough cutting with the carbide bit, and then I came back in and did all of the smoothing and contouring around the valve guides and finished all of the ports. When I first got the heads, they flowed 200/148 at .600 on a SF-600 at 28" of water. Once we were done with the porting and polishing, they flowed 265/192 @ .600 on the same SF-600 flow bench at 28" of water. I picked up a total of 65 cfm on the intake and 44 cfm on the exhaust. Here are the complete flow numbers

Ported Intake Exhaust

.200 129 93
.300 183 130
.400 229 168
.500 262 184
.600 265 192

Now for dyno numbers. I dynoed the car back in May and the car put down 380 rwhp and I believe around 350 rwtq. I am using a rather large cam, XE236/242, but I really like it. I could most likely make more power with a tad smaller cam, but there is no way I am gonna change the cam now. If the cam were to come out, there would be a solid roller going in the car.

For my dyno graph and what all is done to my car for reference, check the link in my sig.

Hope some of this helps you.

Let me know if this works, I don't know if remote linking has been disabled on that site or not. If it doesn't work I'll link it off of cardomain.

Home ported heads with standard abrasives kit. I've done another set since these, and use a steel rasp if you port, not sandpaper rolls. Trust me, I know

Nice #'s
Its just hard to justify someone just chucking heads up in a cnc and walking away then charging $1800- $2000 for what 15-20 horsepower more than a hand job?

A perfect hand job will always produce more power then a perfect cnc job.

Ideally, you'd hand finish CNC heads, because the machine can get to some spots better then you can

CAMARO90RS---Did you grind the valve guides down to the roof of the runner? I'm thinking about doing that now.

Just wondering if you had done the same?
