DIY: Gear swap?? Did you do it yourself??
Take it from me don't try doing gears yourself unless you have done it 10 times w/o any probs or know someone who wants to help that has done alot of gears. I know real good mechanics that still have probs with getting gears perfect IE no whine. On the other hand my brother is the best guy at doing gear swaps around where i live and installed a set of used 3.42's in my car with 0 noise but he tore up a few sets when he first got started about 10 yrs ago
Well i tried doing a set of 4.10's in my car myself last weekend and since I had the tools and good idea on what was going on b/c I had torn my rear down already and my bro set the pinon depth which is the most important setting in doing gears correctly and I put it back together. Well he was busy and i wanted to try out my new 4.10's and I screwed them up making all kinds of noise now
So I will have to do it again another $200 set of gears but he will setting them up for me this time
Anyway don't try this at home.

ALso, if you're using the SLP take off Torsen diff and plan on going larger than 3.42, there's a paddle that will need to be grinded down to clear the teeth.
most shops won't do it. the replacement paddle is $129 from SLP but they don't even tell you about needing it. anyway, the shop grinded mine down but it added about $75. doh
