Distributer Seal Leaks Oil

Hey guys, I have a 93 z28 Lt1 and I have a nasty oil leak out of my distributer seal. I have checked at the Chevorlet dealer and they will not just sell me the seal alone, they want $500 for a new distributor! Is there any place I can buy this seal, maybe aftermarket?? Thanks

What do you mean they want sell you a seal? Were you clear on the part you needed? Sounds like they thought you wanted the seal between the cap and base of the opti . You need the seal that goes in the timing gear cover which you can buy. BTW...are you sure its not leaking from the water pump drive seal...thats the most common place for the leak to come from .

I am not familiar with the 93 timing cover design since I have a 97, but the timing cover seals for my year are relatively inexpensive and readily available. I always replace such seals when doing disassembly/reassembly work to prevent leaks. Those seals wear and harden with age and will leak over time if not replaced.
