I'm at the folks house for fathers day. On the way home, I noticed that I was getting a (what sounds like) gear whine from the rear end. It seemed to be getting progressively louder the whole way home. That was friday morning. Well, I checked the oil in it, and it was full. But I do have a pinion seal leaking again.
My question is, when these rear ends go bad, do they often whine like this? Can I limp it home 320 miles away tomorrow??

I have the stock 3.42's in it. Please help, I don't wanna pay $500 to ship my car home tomorrow.

Go for it man.My gears have been whining ever since I started drag racing the thing.They whine more than stock LS1 owners when talking about the 03 Cobra.The car is good for it. Have a safe trip.

I made it home over 1000 miles on whining gears. It should hold up.

I also have the leaking pinion gear.

I wonder if the dealer will fix my rearend under warranty since I have headers and other various bolt ons including an all new braking system.
