Dissapointing #'s w/ LE ported AFR's and BRE cam

ok i wouldn't really call it "dissapointing" but it's no where near what I think it would be putting down. H/C/I was put together by a local shop, very reputable, but you never know something could be overlooked. The tuner said weather played a role in low #'s (105* heat and 19% humidity) but i think something else is also a factor.

Specs on motor:
stock bottom end LT1 w/ 47K miles on it
-K&N cai
-58mm BBK TB
-30lb SVO injectors
-Racetronix 255lph (walbro) fuel pump
-stock LT4 intake (not sure if it's ported out for 58mm, it was supposed to be but i gotta double check)
-AFR 190cc heads ported by Lloyd Elliot (he'll be getting a call from me soon so i can talk to him about what to try to correct), 2.02in / 1.60ex valves.
-custom Bret Bauer camshaft matched to the AFR heads
-crane "gold" 1.6 rockers
-new crane stock replacement lifters
-comp hi-tech pushrods (used PR checker to get correct length)
-comp beehive 918 springs intalled at the height Bret reccomended
-Mcleod clutch (6 speed car)
-stock 10 bolt rear
-custom dyno tune (could be a tune issue as well)
-peaks at 6K to 6500 w/ no power falling off

after picking it up today and driving it around, it runs VERY VERY good tho, pulls nicely at all RPM's, granted i've only brought it up to 4K or so a couple times. Gonna break in the clutch a little more then i'll get on it higher.

It idles perfect, has a little cam surge, but w/ this size cam, it's gonna Idles/starts up perfect w/ the AC on full blast in this 105* heat today.

I'm going to change over to Castrol Syntec German as soon as my 500 miles are up w/ this dino oil i have in it now. maybe more miles put on w/ the new oil will help make a little more power, but doubt it.

ANY help or suggestions is appriciated guys, this combo should well be around 400-420 to the wheels w/ 380 or so tq. Wouldn't ya'll think?

Here's the graph (sorry taken w/ my camera phone, no scanner here):

check out that TQ dip at 3500-3600

thanks again,
-Ben

I think you need to check the obvious first, like is the intake port matched to the tb, the preload on the rockers, ect. I doesn't look like a valvetrain issue though, the power pulls fine to 6500. The dip is wierd though, I would honestly look check out the tune. And who knows, mabey their dyno reads low, track #'s are the only way to know for sure. But I agree, I would expect 400rwhp EASY with that setup.

FYI, the heads i purchased are HERE --> http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=397988

and the cam is a 23x/23x duration w/ some decent lift and low LSA

What type of dyno was this on. And is it SAE corrected.

Looks jaggy, like with ignition or knock retard issues maybe?

Also, I'm assuming that one run was before mods, and the other after mods, because one run shows the temp at 75 deg, and 10% humidity in the description, and a different date.

Take it to a different shop, I took my car there for a tune and my numbers were way low and they tried to tell me the timing chain was off, needed a new LT4 KM and I had bad parts, blah, blah, blah. Got it back with about the same numbers actually, replaced the opti they re-installed incorrectly, adjusted the valves again and made sure everything was ok and went to another shop and laid down 379. When you're in buisiness you are going to have happy and unhappy cutomers and I just happen to be one of the unhappy ones. I know several others that are very pleased with their work, just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes I guess.

Your lines should be nice and smooth. There is obviously something wrong. Just look how jagged the graph is. I can't believe they let you leave with a graph looking like that.

Yeah, like a tune, cutout, fully ported intake, E-pump and whats your SCR/DCR? And what quench numbers? All those together will get you easily over the 400 SAE RWHP level.... Keep going on it and you'll get there....

Where's the a/f part of the graph? What kind of timing are you running at WOT? Do you have any logs of the runs?

Re: Dissapointing #'s w/ LE ported AFR's and BRE cam

First things first... if Lloyd didnt port these then you should remove his ame from the title. It appears from the sellers thread the Bret ported the heads. Your title should read "BRE heads/cam" to be fair to Lloyd. This is unless you sent them down for rework or somting and Lloyd actually touched them?

Now, it looks like its a tune thing...pehaps some KR pulling timing. It would be nice if they let you know the A/F as well.

I also think your numbers are low. Your #s should be similar to mine. You have more head flow, probably the same Bauer cam, Scott (at A&S) did my tune, etc…

What exhaust are you running? Did they do the H&C install too?
