Whoa, this is the first time I have seen/heard of this. Does this mean you "get rid of" the optispark? I dont know how all this stuff works.

It appears to be capacitors that you put on the sparkplugs.

In other words, a 'GIMMICK'.

That's something that's been available over in the ricer/import world for a while now.

It would appear to be the same theory as Nology Hot Wires. It would not replace the optispark.

For $259, you could run an MSD box with a 2 step and be more consistent. Neither will make power, IMO.

That won't work for me, I only see 6 wires and 7 plugs. Sorry but I couldn't resist. I agree with scottz, same concept as the Nology. So what would that yeild? 0.0002hp? I think it's a waste of money. Stepping up to a set of taylors or accels should be just as good if not better IMO.

There are much better ways to spend $259.

Bogus gimmick. It does nothing for actual performance. With all of the good stuff that TByrne sells, I don't know why he sells this..

Actually-
i think that the MSD would make more power in some cases-
not that the MSD would make power itself - but allow you to use all your potential power...

It really smoothes out the revs too...
i wouldn't get it looking for a 10hp gain, but only if your having trouble burning all the fuel

I think those would be extreme application. ie running 400 shot of No2 or blowers over 8psi.

A complete tune up will do the same. I'm not saying that these systems are ineffective or trying to put anyone down here either. I just think that some times we as gear heads see the shiney new toy and have to have it when in actuallity it's really not necessary. Case in point - I had an Annihalotor. After two years it took a dump. I thought it was the opti, so I replaced it. Now my car runs smooth with the stock system, no misses at all. Prior to this I did have a miss and attributed it to not having a cat and needing some tuning. In the end I did find out alot of info on the optispark system. Such as some people are running stock systems on 500 hp+ with the stock ignition and NGK U grooves. They have no problems. The stock optispark is the most highly advanced distributor system GM ever put on a car. It can selectivley take out timing by individual cylinder. So in the end I wonder at what point do I need an aftermarket system with these cars. If ever there is a conversion which actually eliminates the opti and uses a DIS system then I would consider chaging. But that's not likely to happen. Sorry for the long post.
