Dipstick Tube Removal

I'm gearing up for the installation of my SLP headers and have some concerns about the removal of the dipstick tube. I've read what a PITA it is to reinstall it, and the tricks that can be used to make the task easier, but what of its removal ? Can it be pulled straight from the block by hand ? And should I replace the stock tube with the flexible one offered by Lokar ? I'm a little wary of bending the stock tube to fit with the header for fear that it might snap off at the base.

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Dont be weary man, its all no problem. Just take the bolt on the side of the head out and wriggle it back and forth until itcomes out.

Putting it back in, well, imo it is just as easy.
Take some sand paper and sand the end that goes to the oil pan down some. after doing that, clean the shavingsoff it and put some oil on it for lubrication.
Get under the car and have a friend/wife/dad/ whoever push it down while you guide it in the pan....be PATIENT and it will be much easier.

PM me if you have any more questions.

Do just like Brad said. I just put mine in on Sunday and it was a lil hard to get back in. If your gonna take sand paper to it then make sure that you put some Ultra Copper RTV on the end of it to make sure it doesn't leak. After i sanded it a lil it went in eazy with some wiggling.

I was wondering though....why do you have to take out your dipstick to put in the SLP's? I got SLP shorties w/mine.

Just the one bolt on the block holds it. I'll tell you know it is a PITA but you should be fine removing/installing it. Helps if 2 people do it also. One underneath and one on top.

To get it in, we straightened it out and sanded it down on the bottom. Put a screwdriver in the tube and hammered it down. It sucks though
