Dipstick trouble - Milodon stroker pan (30909)

A friend is finishing up my stroker and is pretty much done, just needs to be put into my car and he said that should be done today. Only problem he says is that the if you try and put the dipstick back in, it will not go in. I was wondering if you guys running this oil pan have had a problem like this as well? It is just the stock dipstick. Can it be trimmed down a bit to fit? I just feel a little worried about it, as there is now no low oil sensor and dipstick if I cannot get this to work.

Did you get splayed caps? I did and the shop didn't use the right ones meant for our engines (even after I told them to) and there was a bunch of dipstick trouble. They ended up trimming the cap, using a smaller bolt, and bending my tube all up, and it still didn't work. So I took it home and fitted my Milodon windage tray (which I also had to mod for the dipstick) and stock pan, then trimmed the dipstick tube a couple inches shorter and got everything to work. It's probably imperfect, but it goes in & out OK and if I have to re-establish the full mark on it, then that's what I'll do. Sure would have been simpler if the shop had used the right caps to begin with. That's why I had them just machine the block & do the balancing, & I did everything else.

The notch in the pan for the dipstick tube isn't far enough towards the outside of the block. I've already run into this before. It's the same problem the original Canton F-body pan had. It appeared to me that both companies used the same "core" to build their pans from. If you absolutely have to use this pan, you can build up the outside of the notch with JB weld, and then grind the inside until the tube will fit.... or shorten the tube. The right way would be to return it and buy the Canton pan for the 4th gen, or a Moroso right hand dipstick pan. Both of those will clear the tube without modification.

Good luck !

BTW.... The Milodon will probably hit the steering rack as well.

The milodon will clear the steering rack.

For the dipstick, mine hit the main splayed caps. I just cut a hole in the side of the pan and made my own dipstick location

My dipstick tube wouldn't fit through either, same issue, not mating up with the block hole. Found this after install in the car.. whoops!

No biggie, the cut bottom of the dipstick tube and it only goes into the block now.. there's enough room for the dipstick itself to get into the pan.

Also had to notch the pan rail for the knock sensor to fit.
