Dip stick and 1.6 rr clearance....
Dip stick and 1.6 rr clearance....
Sup all. Well put in my motor and tranny today. Ran into a few bumps but noting bad. I dunno how people can put on SLP's without moving everything in the motor around.
Anyway, heres my main problemo. I can for the life of me get the dipstick tube in. Any suggestions would be great.
Also.....with the Hotcam kit and 1.6 rockers...do you need to clearance the stock valve covers?? Put the covers on to keep crap outta the motor and thought I noticed some bumpin.
Well guys...wanna start this bad boy up tomorrow.
Thanks in advance.....I appreciate all the help.

I cut about 3/4" of the end of the tube with a hacksaw so it was smooth. Then took sandpaper to it and cleaned it up, then flushed it out and cleaned it and with a little fanagling it went in.
If you have pro mags you will have to cut the supports out on the inside of the valve cover that are on the side of the rockers arms (closest side to intake). But with the hotcam kit I dont think you should have to cut the valve covers.

Crane gold 1.6 clear valve covers with no problem.
I sanded the dipstick a bit and worked it in alittle at a time bending it slightly as it went in.....I didnt have to cut it....that was with the stock oil pan. Ive read you have to cut tube with some of the aftermarket pans. Put alittle rtv around the tube before you push it down that last inch.

My dipstick went in fairly easily. Suggestions... I'd say sand it down so the edge of it is tapered then try to maneuver it in. Put a little motor oil on it too so it will have less friction and slide in. Good luck, that thing can be a pain.
