Different headlight problem
Alrighty, so just recently I'm been having some troubles with my passenger headlight. It'll work perfectly fine for a few days, then just not go up anymore. I've discovered that I can manually crank it to it's maximum height, and then it will work on it's own for another few days. However, then it will randomly quit on me again and I have to recrank it in order to get another few days of use. There are no grinding noises like the gears are being stripped. The light itself does go on with the cabin switch. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks fellas.
does the light motor crank, when it doesnt go up?
If it actually moves, what may have happend is that the spindle is not actually turning the gear. If the motor just plain out sometimes doesnt even attempt to move, a loose wire or worse case, the motor is on its last legg.

What do you mean, does the motor crank? I'm not sure how to tell. All I know is that there is no noise; the only way to tell that the light should be up at all is that the bulb itself is on. After manually cranking it up it will go down again on it's own, then work for a few days or so. How can I check to see if the motor is cranking?
Update: The lights were working tonight. I stopped and turned off the lights, but the passenger side stayed up this time! I tried turning the lights on and off, but the passenger side would just stay up. I didn't feel like fixing it right then so I just let it be. I then got in my car and turned on the lights again. I drove around for a little bit, but when I got home and turned off the lights, lo and behold, the passenger light went down again! What in the world is going on? It's just totally intermittent problems! Any suggestions?
There is a plastic gear that the motor turns. It may be stripped on one side.Go to Shoeboxes site,or do a search(above),to see how to remove this gear, and then rotate it,then put it back into place. This should work,or maybe the motor(headlight )Is going south.(do the gear thing first.)My02
