Difference in Rearend gears between auto and standard cars
I have a 95 z28 m6 and recently destroyed my rear end... the pinion gear is in about 300 pieces and the ring gear is all chipped... i was wondering if i could buy a new rearend out of an automatic... or will the gear ratio be different? also... also... should i buy a used one or would i be better off just buying new
thanks

All M6 cars had 3.42's.... autos had 2.73's or 3.23's. You'd be better off finding one from a 6 speed car. Sometimes you can get a whole rearend for $200-$300.... they go pretty cheap since most people don't want one.

Yep... same gears. One thing to watch if you buy an entire rearend is traction control. If you have traction control now you'll need a rear end with traction control and vise versa. The traction control rearend uses 2 abs sensors (one on each axle), the non-traction control rearend uses 1 abs sensor on the top of the pumpkin. 94-97 models is what you will need.
