i have a 94 camaro z28 and i threw a rod in my motor....and i found a camaro ss of the similar year and was wondering if the motors have any major differences or if the motor fit into my car?

It'll work just fine. You might have to trade some intake parts, since the SS had ram air (I'm actually not 100% sure that the ram air scoop on the LT1 SS was functional) and the Z28 didn't. Everything else on the engine is the same.

Just use the connections that are already on your car and you will be fine. There will be a sensor or two (crank sensor and EVAP switch) on the 96 that the 94 does not, but there will be no problem.
You will also need the opti harness from the 96, since it has a vented opti (assuming you are getting the opti with it).

The AIR hose threads are different also (going into manifolds) make sure you keep the 96 engine hoses with those manifolds.

Mine has functional Ram air from the factory.

And there are two different motors, one is a 305 HP Motor and one is a 310 HP motor. One was for the SS look and suspension but same old motor and one was for the performance package SS, I have the 305 HP LOOKS package SS with the suspension and HOOD no internal motor Improvments.

As you eventually figured out, there was no SS model until 1996.
