Question Difference between X-Pipe, H-Pipe, and Y-Pipe?

I take it the only thing a Y-Pipe does it make to where you run two pipee into one right? As for the H-Pipe and X-Pipe I was wondering was wondering is their any performance difference between the the two?

Thanks,

Chris

From: so close I can taste it...
Y-Pipe: used to merge 2 pipes into 1
H-Pipe: used as a balancer on dual exhaust to help equalize flow...usually helps make more torque at lower rpm
X-Pipe: also used to balance exhaust pulses on dual exhaust...but tends to make better high rpm horsepower than a traditional h-pipe

I thought our engines were about low end torque, if that is true why are X Pipes so popular?

The x-pipes give it that indy car sound and we already have enough damn torque. Well maybe not enough but you know what i mean. Also dont want it sounding like a mustang
