Difference between LT1 crank/350 crank?

Is there any way to tell a difference between a std.350 crank and the lt1 crank? I have both and not sure which is which.

Re: Difference between LT1 crank/350 crank?

The LT1 crank and a late model 350 crank look exactly the same. If I'm not mistaken they have the same casting number too. The main difference is that the LT1 crank is balanced for the hypereutectic pistons instead of cast pistons like what's on older 350's. I'm sure there is a way a machine shop can tell the difference, but if you are building a performance engine you should get the assembly balanced anyway, so I don't think it would matter. I would be curious to know tho if there is a way to tell them apart.

I'd check but the only LT cranks I have are modified in the shop! Dam.

If the crank keys are still in them, the LT1 crank will have the cut-back key. I don't know if the SBCs had this or not, though. Just a stab in the dark.
