Didn't use anti-seize on header bolts....

How many others haven't and how many have then had problems? This install was back in January w/ ARP bolts. I don't know why I did not but did on plugs...I think I was thinking how some people have plugs back out from anti-seize, and I ddin't want to chance header bolts backing out...

Re: Didn't use anti-seize on header bolts....

I'm about to install headers this week, so I've been doing a a lot of searches for install info. It seems that some broken header bolts can only be removed by pulling the head b/c of access issues . Without anti seize you run the risk of that happening. I'm planning on using it and checking the tightness of the bolts periodically.

Might give you peace of mind if you took them out one at a time and put the stuff on now...just a thought.

How long before they are welded in do you think? I was thinking of pulling one by one now, but if I were to break a bolt in there now, that would be bad!

I would imagine it would take longer than 5 months, but who knows. Have you ever checked them for tightness? the ARP are supposed to be good bolts, and they should be stronger than the old stock ones that I've read about people breaking.

I think more often the problem with header bolts is backing out, rather than seizing up.

Yes I check for tightness often, never backed out, but if I try loosening they come out no problem... might as well throw some anti-seize on all I can get out (access to one is poor).

Anti-seize on plugs won't cause them to back out if they are tightened right in the first place.
Get some Bersline locking bolts and put anti-seize on them and lock them in,problem gone forever.
