did some mods

Well I finished some of my mods, hooker LTs, ORY with hooker 3" catback, 4.10s (with cover, welded axle tubes and solid pinion spacer, aurburn posi, motive pro (aam) gears), MSD Opti, wires and tr55 plugs at .055, and my old csi electric wp.

Car runs good, it hooks pretty hard and pulls clean, otherwise stock motor/clutch.

I think my next mod will be shift light (so I can be consistent), 1.6 roller rockers (have all these parts from my wrecked '94 car) and maybe play with some timing/fuel via tunercat.

I think my next mod will be a nitrous works 75-175 shot (jetted for 75) and save for clutch/12 bolt. This car is a daily driver, but I don't drive it too much, its more of my driver/fun car.

Can I do any more bolton mods (no cam or internal engine stuff), I have the air pump and egr removed, i think that leaves underive pulleys and that's about it. Car has a ram air predator hood with ram air filter, so got CAI I guess as well.

I would do heads and cam, but I think I"m gonna save for a nice decent nitrous 355.

This car has about 60,000 miles, i've had it a few monts but did the mods kind of all at once (did some suspention mods too) and used lots of parts from my wrecked 94, so far the modding/gains have been good. I'm really enjoying the car!

Re: did some mods

1.6RR's and LT4 springs, retainers, locks will make a big difference if ya raise the rev limit And get your shifts programed higher.
52/58MM TB will help.May not help but won't hurt.
Make sure the CAI is flowing good.Filter too.
TB water bypass.
Narrow the plug gap to .035.
Good tune.
Spohn adj TA.
Box the LCA's.
Check pinion angle for 2*.
QA-1 shocks up front.
Converter.
Remove front bumper.
Good tach with shift light.

Re: did some mods

Skip the pulleys, they are a waste of money in my opinion. Nitrous would be a good bang for the buck mod as well as finishing your suspension mods and finishing off with a good pair of tires.

Re: did some mods

if you're looking for an excelent converter for cheap try the TC out of an s-10 with the 4l60. they're setup for (i think) 3k stall. and it's small so it's not going to bee off by too much. they'll be cheaper than going with B&M or TCI too.

i'd start on suspension after all those mods. some knock off a good .5 sec with a good suspension. also, your 60-ft times will be much better.

Re: did some mods

Hey guys,

I bought this car about three months ago, was stock with 55,000 miles. Only mods were predator hood w/ func ram air and slp shifter. I had a '94 parts car from which I got some of the mods. But in about 2 weeks I did the following mods:

Ram Air CAI (had)
Hooker LTs, ORY, Hooker 3" CB
AIR!, EGR!, TB bypass
MSD opti, MSD wires, TR55 plugs at .050
Motive Pro 4.10s/TA cover, welded tubes, solid pinion shim, cap studs
Hypertech 160 tstat
CSI electric water pump

tunercat (use my 94 tune with some changes). Basically 1 deg. of timing advance accross the board and slighly leaner fuel up top, and rev limiter changes, left stock MAF tables for a 100% stock MAF

Spohn adj. poly/rod combo LCA and PHR
Strano 35/22mm bars
Koni SA
Trans Poly Mount
Stock springs
Hotckis ls1 STB
MT Street Radials, and Khumo front tires, 255/50/16 all around

Still have to put on:
MSD Digital 6
new fuel filter
harlan shift light
harlan window switch
Crane 1.6 RR, pushrods and guideplates
Nitrous Works plate 75-175 shot
Hotchkis sfc

I think the car is right around the 13.1-13.2 range at altitude on the drag radials, which is not bad for a first time out with this car. Clutch is still stock but seems to be holding. With the "still to put on" mods w/o nitrous I'd say it should be 12.99 or so, and with a 75 or a 100 shot hope to get into the low 12s. Does this sound about right?

Overall though the suspention is great, rides great and corners awsome with the cheap z rated Khumo's. With the MT drag raidal's it not as good, but still not bad at all.

Like I said, overall so far am enjoying the car.

Re: did some mods

12s shouldn't be a problem with the spray, don't even count out 11s as you might get there with the help of good tires and depending how much you have your system jetted at.

Re: did some mods

Naw, i don't think the 10 bolt is gonna last, but i had some parts, like the cover, 4.10s and posi, so it was cheap! I also have an extra complete stock 10 bolt and bunch of 10 bolt parts.

Re: did some mods

I belive 3.42s or 3.73s. My dad's 2000 safari comes with 3.73s and 4l60e, lol.

Or you can buy 3.42s from a guy like me that pulled them from a M6 car to put in 4.10s. Or guys that yanked the whole 10 bolt to put a different diff in.

In my case I have a set of mind 3.42s i'd part with, but i also have a backup 3.42 diff that i'm keeping in case my 10 bolt explodes and car needs to move.

I did get the 9" for the third gen, and soon the 12 bolt for the 4th i'd imagine.
