I had symtoms like this before, but I don't have Ram Air.

I've replaced everything mentioned in this thread so far except the MAF and the ECM, and I mean everything.

The one thing that I did that seemed to fix all my problems was to replace the ground lug for the ECM and clean all the ground terminals that connect to it.

The reason that it needs to be replaced is that it screws in to the passinger-side inner-fenderwell and is exposed to rain and moisture which corodes it.

In order to properly clean the stud you have to screw the lug out of the body and clean it though, not just clean the top part of the stud.

I've done D all the above except cleaning the IAC. I'll do that today. ThrotBod was cleaned, etc but I didn't do the IAC. will try that this evening, thanks. I'll post any findings.

There's a gasket that you have to get, the dealer may have it in stock, once you take off the TB, the IAC assembly is attached via 7 star bolts??? Unbolt that, the IAC assembly with the gasket comes off, you'll have to scrape off the remaining part of the gasket in order to install the new one. The IAC will probably be BLACK, use TB cleaner & a toothbrush to clean it all out, will have heavy carbon deposits. May take some time to scrub it all out, do NOT try to push the spring assembly, leave it as is, then put it back together & let me know what happens.

Hey Carlos, do you know of any websites that would have some pics of the IAT assembly? I did clean my throttle body with seafoam but I just sprayed it inside throttle body. I want to try anything I can to figure this one out?

Thanks,
Rich

Its me again : ), I forgot to ask everyone with this low RPM stumble. Does your car throw a misfire code? Mine throws a multiple misfire code and I was wondering if that could help me narrow something down? Again all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Rich

BTW the ICM did nothing when I replaced it. I mine as well go back in time and buy a new 95Z. anyone else feel like they want to run there car into a lake?

The ECM is the computer.

Try cleaning the ground lug if your car always seems to run better after you unhook the battery.

Not that I know of Rich, but it's basically pretty easy, even I could do it!

First things first, you will have to get at least TWO new gaskets, there is actually 4 gaskets that you can buy, I think it's called the throttle body rebuild kit--yeah right, just 4 gaskets...
Anyway, one is for the TB, one is for that plastic plate that sits above the TB??? The third is the gasket that the IAC assembly bolts on to the the bottom of the TB, and the last is a little circular gasket for the actual IAC valve. I took apart everything except the IAC valve, I kept it in, and still did a heck of a job cleaning it.

This gasket kit cost me $42.00 American & change from the dealer, the dealership had it for me by the end of the day, hopefully some other dealership has this kit for you.

To take off the TB, first things first, if you do not have a Haynes or Chilton's manual, go buy one NOW, they have pics showing how to remove the TB, including the throttle cable, it's pretty easy!

DO NOT SOAK THE THROTTLEBODY/IAC ASSEMBLY!
Don't ask me why, somebody told me not to, it may damage something, I just sprayed it with STP TB cleaner & scrubbed the **** out of it, came out pretty darn clean I might say. It took me 3 hours total, I'm sure it would take me half that time now. It's not difficult.

Add me to the list, mine happens only after temp reaches 220, like when the fans should come on. Only when shes hot, flat on thrttle then kickes in hard, at at a stop low rpm the surges hard.
if i'm stopped & put the car in park she wont do it though. Thoughif I do the fan switch mod and keep her cool it will solve the problem.

Is everyone elses car only doing this while running hot?

I'm sure running hotter would affect overall performance, but not a specific rpm power loss. Curious how many miles on the car? Reason I ask is that 02 Sensors should be replaced every 50k. I inspected mine and ruled them as ok but after a scan today my passenger side pre-cat 02 shows bad along with a multi-engine misfire. My car is running super rich, drinking gas and backfiring. This falls in line with a bad 02 sensor because if it's not reading the 02 in CLOSED LOOP then it's probably lost and the PCM is dumping fuel in to compensate. I have longtubes with no cats and need the aftercat 02 SIMMS and was just waiting to spend the 90 bucks when inspection time came up. It's been running fine like this for about 4 months. My understanding is the after-cat 02 sensors are backups to the pre-cat sensors. So......if I have a bad pre-cat 02 sensor and nothing to back it up...the PCM is totally lost. Wow this was long but I'm desperate. I pick up two brand new pre-cat 02's after work today ....36 bucks each...I'll post this evening how the car runs afterwards. I guess these 02 sensors despite looks can just get old internally. My understanding was they should appear like a NORMAL burning plug when you pull and inspect, as well as checking the wiring, etc.

I FINALLY HAVE MY CAR BACK!

When my stumble began it was right after a header install so I figured it was related...kind of? I think my EGR was partially clogged up and when I lost backpressure from the headers, it just wouldnt work enough. After replacing the EGR , that code went away but the stumble stayed and an 02 code popped up? I had the 02 replaced but still had the code?? After awhile of driving me nuts I took it back in and had ANOTHER 02 put in.....WALLA! Stumble has been gone for a week and a half so far and no code from the 02. So I think that the EGR was the original cause and then a header leak caused an 02 to go and caused the same symptom. I guess when I replaced it the 2nd time it was just defective or something. Now I just need to get rid of the damn AIR light.

Right now though its ok, shes running good again I hope everyone gets theirs figured out because its a great feeling after 8 months!

Thanks to everyones input throughout!

Rich

Mine has most of these symptoms since my header install, I get a multiple misfire code along with bad 02's.. i'm going to replace the 02's since they're crap. my car will stumble real bad after about 2 to 3 minutes of driving it and go away and be fine for the rest of the day.

TReplace my o2s this weekend when I did my loudmouth install.
No change.

This week I will be trying IAT MAP and TPS sensors.
Wish me luck.
