Did I break the oil level sending unit?

In the middle of removing the oil pan and when I removed the oil sending unit it was a tight fit to get it out with my long tube headers, I had to angle it a bit and the end got stuck a little, I managed to get it out, but its in 2 pieces... the bolt part with plastic rod about 3" long and a cylinder/tube piece that fits over the rod thats about 1 inch long.

Does that tube part just fit on the rod part and nothing holding them together?
I have not removed the pan yet to know if there's anything else in there that didn't come out.

Sounds like it's broke, it's your low oil level sensor not your sending unit. The sending unit is at the back of the block, at the back of the intake.

I meant level sender, oh well, I'll just put it back without the tube, the wires are melted anyway.

Shorting the wires together will get you around having the light inside. If your car isn't using oil then you don't have much to worry about, in between oil changes.
America when how long without them.... Just a nice save your engine device

That's what I was thinking, and I'd probably never notice the light anyway until it was too late...it easy enough to replace some other day as I'm sure its a dealer item and I'm trying to get this $%^&#$#@ think back together this w/e

I had to take unplug mine & short them together, if I didn't I'd fried the wires on the sensor with the FLP headers and canton road race pan
