Alright here is the story...I have a csr waterpump that I tried to clearance the fins on and thought I had it good by test fits but when I put it together for the final assy. I tested it again and I guess the fins hit pretty good. When I took the pump off the housing the fin piece just fell off........now I can get it to screw back on but I tested the pump out of the housing and it spins the fin piece off the rest of the pump now(never tested the pump out of the housing before this). So is it broke or does the pump need to be in the housing to prevent this and its normal? I am leaning toward broke but wanted to check first.

I had that same problem with CSR... I guess they have a batch out there where the impeller isn't screwed on tightly enough. Call them and send it back. Ask for a whole new unit that is tightened down using loctite.

 

Great! Glad I found this post. I hooked mine up to test it out, and it sounded like it was hitting something inside. I kept running it, and it went away eventually. Guess I better get the thing out and see whats up before I pour in the coolant anf go for a ride.
