Question Did I block the EGR the right way?

Not sure if I did it right or not when I finished my headers up. The only thing I blocked off was where the pipe from the exhaust manifold went into the back of the intake. I just had the hole welded shut. Is there anything else that has to be done?

Make sure you block off the big hole on the back of the intake otherwise you will have a serious vacuum leak going on there!!! I bought some blockoff plates from someone on the board here for like 20 bucks or so, but I can't remember who.

Yeah, that's the only one thing I did block off. Was there anything else that needed blocked though?

If you left the EGR valve on and removed the vacuum line to it, you are ok.

On one end of the tubing is the intake manifold, which you said you have blocked off, on the other end of the tubing is a port off of the exhaust manifolds, which you also need to have blocked off (unless your headers came without the EGR fitting then you don't have to worry about blocking off the port on the exhaust manifold!!)

Hope this helps!!!

should just block the pipe to the exhaust manifold and that is all you need to do, to block the egr

Yeah, my headers aren't emissions legal so I don't have anything on the headers themselves to worry about plugging up. In Shoebox's picture where it says EGR pipe to exhaust manifold, that is the hole that I sealed up. I didn't touch anything else but that.

Good deal. I just wanted to make sure because it is taking the car a just a little longer to start up than it did the first time i turned it over after the install. But I read in another post that that since right now it's just open headers, that the o2's could be reading wrong and causing the car to run rich. I'll find out tomorrow though since it will all be getting hooked up. Thanks for all the replies.
