Did Firebirds come with the 115MPH speed limiter??
Did Firebirds come with the 115MPH speed limiter??
First, I don't know what kind of tires came on my car. But I do have a 150MPH speedo, if that means anything. But today I got it on a straightaway and a was laying into it and it felt like I hit a fuel cutout or something around 115. Could I have one of those governers, and what do I do to remove it?
You have a formula, so I would want to say no, although I do know that the tire rating was typically a determinant in which setup you had. Are you on an A4 or M6? if on M6, try downshifting, maybe it's just lack of power in that 6th gear. If it seems to be stopping for sure though, the only way to get rid of it is to get an interface with your computer (hypertech, LT1 edit, etc.) to turn that thing off.
You were in 5th gear at just over 100? Make sure you shift at 5700rpms in future so that you don't lose any races because 4th will do just over 130mph. My formula came with a 115 speedo and the top speed limiter was set at 107mph. When i got my tuning from PCMFORLESS i had it removed for good. Done 170+ since.
If you did not buy it new, there is a possiblity that the cluster was changed out. RPO QLC is normally the one for the Z rated Goodyears that would have come on it. You might look for it on your RPO code sticker in the glovebox.
