Angry Design for coolant resevoir stinks on my 96.

What a stupid idea to route the hose and plumbing under the battery.

Went to replace coolant sensor today.

A fifteen minute job turned into a few hours.

Negative terminal disconnect 5 seconds.

Corrosion and stripped nut made postive terminal disconnect not happen.

Battery tie down bolt snapped about an inch down. Rest is still in hole. Turns out the hose must have had a leak at one time cause the battery tray and underneath looks like what you would see in a 30+ year old car. What a friggen mess. Rust everywhere.

What a sight I musta been for anyone driving by,

There I am holding the battery tilted as far as it would with positive terminal still attached with my head as I pushed the stupid coolant sensor in. Even with the battery out of the way there is no friggen room for my fat paws.

Simple chore has turned into a project. Get new package tray, drill out remains of old bolt, rust treatment, install new tray, replace stripped positive cable end. How nice. Never thought I'd be POR 15'n this one, my 68 Skylark, yes; but not my 96 Z.

Worst thing about it was I got four kids 18 throught 13 who will usually help me. Since I thought it would take a few minutes, my helpers left and headed down to the beach cabana for a nice relaxing afternoon.

And how was your Saturday?
