Desensitizing Knock Sensor?

It seems like I'm getting some odd knock that cannot be attributed to bad gas (used race gas and it's still knocking).

There are no exhaust leaks and I have the LT4 knock module. The car seems to do it intermittently... usually at WOT but often on regular acceleration as well.

I did have the car programmed last year by ARE when I dyno tuned the car with wide band A/F sensor. At that point I did not desensitize the knock sensor but I heard that this may be possible.

The question I have is: When changing the sensitivity of the knock sensor... is it possible just to decrease the sensitivity or does it just turn it off?

I've been using 92-94 octane in the car... other than possibly getting a bad batch of gas, would completely turning off the knock sensor put me at risk of severely damaging the car? If so... I may just do the resistor mod instead, and figure out a way of turning it on/off when racing. (ie. creating a switch that other runs through the resistor or not)

Thanks in advance guys.

You can either get a lt4 knock sensor or use a resistor... Turning off the knock sensor can be risky.

His post said he has the lt4 km. I too am using the lt4 km and still getting a ton of knock retard from my rockers. Can you desensistize the lt4 even more of is it pointless?

what value resistor do you use to bypass the ks?

If you do a search... this has already been discussed. I have it on my favourites at home...I'll post a link tomorrow for your reference.

To my point above, I was hoping someone would know whether you could desensitize the knock sensor with programming without actually disabling it completely. Anyone know?

As far as tuning it down some, I suppose you could set max retard values in the tables, as well as adjusting how fast it lets the advance come back in... I'd set it for a max of maybe 2 degrees retard, and set it so that advance comes back as fast as possible...
