I'm LE Tired LOL, anyways instead of reading everything I call BS on the screen thing, I have 2 mafs, 1 screen & the other isn't, I like it descreened, for my car I get better readings with it off, & tunning is easier for me with no screen just the way the PE talbes don't have to be in the +'s all the time.

As for MAF screen removal letting airflow get by the sensors is BS aswell, airflow the faster it moves the cooler it gets across the area as a whole, I by all means KNOW that descreening the MAF acctually inscreases the measured airflow by the MAF, I get:

330 AFG's no matter what with screen on
370 AFG's with no screen.

There you go, I'm getting higher readings, & getting more fuel, hence why I can keep the PE table low.

On a stock car I think you'd loose power by descreening, only because the extra amount of AFG's you ussually end up reading will completely take the PE table off hand, 9.0 at 5k RPM might be normal with screen, but without one thats way too rich, thats my experience.

What happens if you just remove the plug on top the MAF. Will this make the car run lean or rich? Also I took mine out and cleaned the wires inside with a Q-tip then read that if you ever touch them they are ruined. I read that at lt1edit some where.

The engine will run in speed density mode.

speed density mode is just another way of measuring incoming air. the only difference is that instead of directly measuring it like the MAF sensor, the computer uses a multitude of equations and feedback from sensors to mathematically calculate the amount of air entering the motor.

As far as removing the screen... I look for other areas to gain hp like real mods such as CAI, catback, cam.. ext.

Doubt it. There was a recent thread about this and upon reading it, I followed suit. Possibly in my head but my car ran a little better as did several others that did this I believe.

I took a flathead screwdriver and carefully (i mean really carefully ) scraped the metal posts of carbon that wouldnt come off using the q-tip cleaning method. Seems like the car runs much better now, its definatly not worse It came off fairly easy just with some light scraping. The little resistor looking things cleaned just fine using carb cleaner, sprayed them with electrical cleaner after to make sure theres no residue on them....

That should have killed the topic right there. But tell your turner that its out so he can tune for it. Makes a difference. The aftermarket ones are calibrated for that and the stock is not. In the b-body world we use the f-body maf and port and descreen to make a cheaper version of the aftermarket and it works well with proper tuning. If you are not going tune for it dont do it. My cars both didnt run good at low rpms when I done it but and WOT I could tell a SOTP feel. But tuning cured the low rpm problems.

If im not mistaken, aftermarket MAF sensors suck. The Granatelli's are very inaccurate and you will see very little, if any gain. Ive even heard of people losing power because they are so difficult to tune.
