What do mean by "run it"? Denatured alcohol is ethanol. It can be used as a fuel, but methanol is more often used for a variety of reasons. It can also be used as I use it: an injection fluid for a blower application. In my case 1/2-1/3 alcohol to water. Either ethanol or methanol works for this application.

Denatured alcohol isn't just ethanol -- they process it so it doesn't have certain natural properties anymore -- I believe they might add a chemical or two to it.

For practical purposes, it's ethanol. Just don't drink it! It has (typically) ~10-20% of isopropyl, methanol, and methyl ethyl ketone in it to keep you from drinking it (without getting very very sick).

I still want to know "why" before expounding on the original question. Alcohol as a fuel, as "octane enhancement", what? Otherwise it will be a very long post.

No need to be getting all technical here lol, I just want to know if it is safe to put in my tank as an Octane enhancer. I would use Toulene but I cant find me any. I know methanol supposedly will decompose plastics and such but is it concentrated enough in denaturated alcohol to screw anything up? I plan on using 192ozs of this stuff for one full tank of gas, approx. 15 gal. That equates to 10%. Can I go more or will I be pushing it?

Bad idea without tuning. You will make it way too lean.
