Delteq system?
Delteq system?
Seems like my optispark is going bad. My car started to sutter and misfire one night after exiting the freeway. My engine light came on and made my car run a little better. Suddenly, my light turned back off, and my car ran worse and stuttered and misfired pretty bad. I have to say that my car turns on right away and doesn't feel that bad while the engine is cold. Once it warms up, then you can notice it misfiring and stuttering more. I'm almost positive my optispark is going out. Now I'm considering saving up money and purchasing the Delteq coil system for my car. My question is: What are the chances of my optical part going out on my optispark with 90,000 miles on it. Will I really have to worry about getting a new opti after getting the Delteq installed? I did a search and got real good info and opinions on the Delteq, but that is the one this that I'm worried about and is holding up my decision on getting a Delteq. Thanks and sorry for the long post/question.
Re: Delteq system?
If you are getting trouble codes for the optical signals, then worry about that part. Otherwise, maybe not so much to worry about. However, no one is making any money on predicting the life of any part of an optispark.
Re: Delteq system?
My car threw a code when it started acting up, but then went away, returned, then went away... All this every 30 minutes or so. Now I don't get a check engine light, but my car seems to be stuttering and misfiring after I turn it on. I turns on fine, but seems to idle rough and misfire.

Re: Delteq system?
The thing is that it only threw the code for one night, then it went away. That's why I wasn't able to have it scanned. I replaced my O2 sensors the same night, before the problem happened, therefore I doubt it was my O2's. I did put my old ones back in, thinking the new ones could be defective, but there was no change in the behavior of the car. The only difference is that it no longer threw a code, but kept misfiring and stuttering.
Re: Delteq system?
As Injuneer said, you need to scan the car and look for any stored DTC's, just because the "check engine" isn't on does not mean you don't have trouble code(s) stored. That is one of the reasons why the PCM has the ability to display diagnostic information...to take some of the guesswork out of diagnosing and repairing your car.
Re: Delteq system?
I'm gonna try to get my car scanned and hopefully it's nothing major. I already replaced my MAP Sensor and Mass Air Sensor. I hope there isn't much more to spend on my car.
