Re: Delteq Questions

Who has LTCC in stock right now?

I emailed Bailey and haven't got a response back yet.

Not trying to start a pissing match but let's compare apples to apples. The prices I quoted were for all brand new stuff. It's not an issue of whether LS1 coils go bad as much as somebody getting lucky enough to get a set used for the price you quoted. The prices I quoted can be had anytime. FWIW, I've seen used Northstar coilpacks go for $20.

You also neglected to mention that to run a set of LS1 coilpacks with the LTCC, he's gonna need to custom fabricate his own brackets. The Delteq comes with it's own brackets ready to mount straight out of the box.

You can't just throw any old set of wires that you may or may not already have on the LTCC because it says right on LTCC's website that low resistance aftermarket wires cause problems with this setup. The site recommends Taylor Spiro-Pro cut-to-length wires.

Let's be fair:

gmpartsdirect.com price for individual LS1 coil (P/N# 12558948 ) $35.17 x 8= $281.36+$15.00 handling= $296.36

$400+$296.36= $696.36

Taylor Spiro-Pro LS1 wires@$51.90=$748.26 http://www.lmperformance.com/2539/1.html

+ cost and hassle of custom fabricating your own coil pack brackets. (Machine shop?)

OR

Thunder Racing LS1 coil relocation brackets with Taylor wires=$199.99

If he goes the Thunder Racing route, which would make the whole deal a bolt-on install the same as the Delteq is, that brings things up to $896.36.

Yeah, so if you're lucky enough to find a good deal on used parts and don't mind the hassle and expense of DIY'ing custom brackets, you can have the LTCC marginally cheaper than a full-blown Delteq/DIS-4 setup.

No pissing match intended I was just stating that you can in fact run the LTCC for cheaper than what you listed when you said LTCC can't touch the $8xx.xx figure you listed.

The coilpack prices I listed are very standard for the forums. You just have to watch ls1tech everyday. They're a wee bit higher on Ebay.

Regarding the plug wires it just depends on what brand you use. You can't use the SUPER low resistance wires. As we all know Taylor wires are pretty much junk and Bob actually recommends going with Magnecores. Pricier than Taylors, yes, but worth the money (although people don't like paying $125 for plug wires)

Just stating that if one has an inkling of fabrication skill they can have the LTCC setup done for $500-$600 bucks tops. I bought a 2'x2' sheet of 16 gauge metal for $5 at a local fab shop and had the brackets made in about an hour. Factor in the price for the all-thread rods and nuts and lock washers to keep the coils still and I have less than $10 in mounting the coils. I'm not kidding on this part at all.

I guess it just depends on the individual's skill level. Like I said I've got a smidge over $500 in my setup, and I'm not skewing that number to make the LTCC look like a bargain, just stating that it can be done for this price if someone has the tools and know-how.

Re: Delteq Questions

None of you guys have mentioned the fact that you have to either buy or make brackets to hold your ls1 coils... delteq covers that aspect. Plus with the DIS-4 box you get the msd capacitive discharge feature as well, which I know works very well since I used to have an opti/digital 6 combo. I do know that the LS1 coil system is very efficient and powerful. I don't think you'd go wrong either way. I went delteq.

I was looking at those but the seller was playing games with the shipping charges. Says one thing and then denies it later. WTF? Seems shady.

Re: Delteq Questions

Personally I went Delteq, but either work. They both cost about the same in the end, give or take a little. Both have good points, both have bad.

Okay I missed it, one person said that... but still nobody commented on that. I have not been on the board in a long time but I remember the 250 dollar mallory billet brackets. Are there any cheaper options now other than custom???

Re: Delteq Questions

This is the next thing i'm thinking about getting for my car. Still tring to decide ltcc or delteq. Building brackets doesn't bother me at all. Just gonna come down to the price of the setup.

These are the two places I bought my Delteq components from:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/IGNIT...spagenameZWD1V

http://www.paceparts.com/index.asp?P...&ProdID=146731 (Shipping is free)

$497.48 + the cost of your plug wires of choice
