Delteq Questions

What do you need to run an MSD 6AL with the Delteq?

Trying to find a retailer that carries the coil pack for a Northstar *AND* will ship to Canada.

As far as i know you cant run the 6AL box, you have to use a DIS-4 box.

U can't run a 6AL box with the Delteq setup nor LTCC setup.

I know the DIS-4 will work with the Delteq setup, but u also need the coil adapters.

Just go LTCC. Has everything you need unless you're running nitrous in which case you have to buy a $90 window switch. Plus you can just buy used LS1 coils instead of trying to buy brand new Northstar coils that you will get raped on.

If you want a 2-step you need to go with the DIS-4 and 4 of the coil pack adapters. I have the setup in the garage, but I need to get the car running before I throw more parts at it.

I don't mind the LTCC but it seems less complete and messier than the Delteq.

Can you use the LS2 coils with LTCC? Any splicing of wire harnesses needed?

If you are just looking to retard your timing, you can use the Crane TRC-1.

From what I heard, the DIS-4 isn't very low rpm friendly.

LTCC has a two-step built in to it.

Yes you can use LS2 coils, I believe you have to have Bob just stick different plugs on the end of the harness. Regarding messyness, it's all in how clean you are with the install. Eventually aesthetics take a back seat to getting rid of the high voltage part of the opti (for me anyway) I was going to mount them under the radiator shroud to keep a stock appearance but didn't want to have to run custom wires. So I mounted them on the valvecover and used off the shelf Accel Extreme 9000s (had a couple extra sets left over so I used all the short plug wires).

That's my thread about the install (pictures about halfway down the page) Could have made it a LOT cleaner but I got bored one night and decided to throw it all on the car. Can get better pictures if needed.

Regarding splicing of the wiring harness, very little is needed. You cut the 12v wire that fed the stock coil and connect it to two pink power wires that feed each individual bank of coils. Each bank also has to be grounded to the motor. The only other thing to hook up is you cut the white wire originally going to the ICM (this tells the LTCC box when to fire the coils) and connect it to the white wire coming out of the box. Wiring literally took 5-10 minutes tops.

If I can get the coils cheap, I might go LTCC then.

Maybe mount the coils close to the strut towers on each side instead of on the motor.

No offense but you're on crack. I bought coils for $100 and the LTCC box for $400. That's all I've got in my setup. Tack on another $125 for custom plug wires and you still are lower than your posted figure.

No they are used. Thought I posted that already in this thread but apparently it was in my other one. Do LS1 coils ever go bad?

You can easily find used LS1 coils for $100-$130 on LS1tech vs $125 from your Ebay link. Current delteq savings over LTCC = negligible.

Delteq barebones cost $350 vs $400 for LTCC. Delteq savings thus far = $50.

Plug wires may or may not be needed for either setup so that is out of the equation.

Now to make the delteq have all the functionality of the LTCC you have to pay an extra $450 to $350 (it listed as $450 but selling for $360 after an "instant rebate")for a DIS 4, plus worry about the extra wiring and mounting aspects.

For a quick solution to getting rid of the opti I would go Delteq, but if you want full control over two-step, retard, rev limit, etc etc for a lot less I recommend LTCC.
