The AIR (smog) pump on your LT1 is not driven by the serpentine belt - it has an electric motor. Unplug it. Unbolt it. Remove the plumbing. Cap the air supply connection on the air intake duct (5/8" vacuum cap). Put 22mm oil drain plugs in the manifold holes. If there is a good fuse in the AIR pump circuit, you will not get any codes for the missing system (OBD-I only).
you save a wee bit of weight. The pipe, fittings, pump and bracket come in at about 5 lbs.... at least mine did.
you might save a slight amount of current draw on the alternator during AIR pump operation on start up... this might translate to a few drops of gasoline saved... but that is speculation because I don't have proof
you don't get a vacuum cleaner sound during start up.
Those are advantages I can think of besides the cleaner looking engine bay.
