Deleted A/C, PS, what belt size?

I removed the Power steering pump and Airconditioning compressor anyone know the correct belt size with a stock pully or an undersize pully?
WHY? you don't need A/C or power steering on a Drag car!

Thanks

Did you leave the alternator in the stock position, or drop at down to the bottom, like most people do when they delete A/C and PS? Are you attempting to incorporate the tensioner pulley? It isn't needed, if you use a lower alternator bracket like the one from Madman that allows you to tension the belt by moving the alternator.

Best thing to do is wrap a piece of string around the crank pulley and alternator pulley... mark the point where it overlaps, then measure the distance between the marks and buy that size belt.

Injuneer; I would not mind using the original bracket position for the alt. if I can use the belt tensioner. It seems to me that the tensioner is the better way to go.

I really never thought about moving it down to the A/C area, I am guessing that the bolt patern is the same?

What does madman's setup look like?

One other question; now that the PS pump and lines are gone, what about pluging the hole where the lines went into the steering? Do I need to do this or fabricate a line that screws into both holes?

Thanks,
Jim

I don't want to use madman's brackets just because thats where the procharger will be sitting ... But if it was where the AC compressor is, it would be perfect anything anybody?

I spoke with a guy at lunch and decided to use threaded plugs with zerk fitting and lube it with grease.
That should protect the steering assembly.

Thanks Eddi but I have an 93 Z28 also.
I just got this LT1 and I am going to use it for racing 95 percent of the time. I though I changed my profile to reflect the 93 but I guess I didn't.
Yes, it is in there , check out the bottom three lines in my previous post.

steve10 from this board is working on just that; I will most likely be testing the prototype version once it is done. He is running behind with some other projects, so this may not be done for a month or two. Keeps the PS and relocates the alternator to where the A/C compressor once was. I'm really looking forward to this mod; should make the car much easier to work on.

Joe,

Sorry for the delay's. I hope to have it done soon. I just have been so damn busy. I was trying to push it to be done by a few weeks ago.. but that hasn't been able to solidify.

The alternator (keeping the PS) will be in the location of the AC with my setup. It will utilize the same current low-mount alternator bracket which I already in production. Everything is made of the same T-6061 aluminum. This will enable the user to at a later date, run the one bracket to eliminate the PS if he/she wishes.

Steve

Steve, not a problem, I know you've been busy. Not that it matters much right now, since it is too damn cold out to be driving the car around a bunch, and it's not like I have any $$ to be dumping into vast mods for my car this winter anyway.
