Deep Throaty Exhaust?????

Alright guys i have a little problem...for those of u in the chicago area u might have heard what my exhaust sounds like if u went to the 75th and lemont hooters cruise

anyways...the exhaust i have now i like...all i did was replace the muffler with a Y pipe. it sounds pretty nice, but when i rev it, it pops ALOT..i want something deep and throaty

i was thinking of a Loudmouth, but heard that it is too raspy, and pops alot..i was also thinking of borla, but not sure if i want to spend that much....the other thing was that i was thiking of SpeedInc in Schaumburg haveing the fabricate me a true Dual Exhaust system with and X pipe

Just curious if u guys could help me out...and also if u have any sounds clips of them too that would be awesome...THANKS ALOT
AND I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM U...

if you dont plan on doing any future mods on your car the Slp Lm is the way to go it sounds nice with stock cats and headers, if you do mods with that system it tends to get really loud and raspy

I have yet to hear a LT1 exhaust set up that doesn't pop...some of them are just more defined and high-pitched.

Ones I can't stand:
Loudmouth
Borla
American Thunder
Dynomouth (essentially a cheap do-it-yurself Loudmouth, but uses a Dynomax Bullet)

Exhaust is tough on these cars. I have yet to hear one rival a Mustang, just can't beat that sound.

Mine is too loud for me, but I've got a 40 series single in/out 3" Flowmaster right off my BBK headers Y-pipe. It's deep, throaty, mean sounding and the pops are very DEEP sounding, so it's not nasty sounding like a lot of exhaust systems.

I agree...the CAT will definitely open up the noise factor...but with stock pipes, with my CAT gone, car popped worse than ever. I finally ditched all that useless weight and aside from the loud factor, the pops are at least MEAN sounding now.

Wish I could load some sound files.

GMMG and LT going on in 2 weeks

Hey well i have GMMG and Jet hot LOng tubes waiting to be installed by Speed Inc, in 2 weeks so i know what it sounds like but i have heard clips of it on lt1 with cats and it sounds bad *** iam having the cat taken off and a custom y pipe built from LS1 speed, they do really good work and then dyno tune, but the GMMG is the way to go it is really deep sounding go there site, it is kinda expensive but do it once and do it right. later good luck

I really like my set up, about to swap to a Dynomax Ultra Flo and should tone it down. The set up, after the swap is gonna be a grand total of like $80!! I like the choice I made to save the money for other things.

I know this is going to sound wierd and counter productive, but from clearly a sound (not performance) standpoint, I still have the stock exhaust on mine. I have LT's and no cat and I've gotten a lot of compliments on the sound (yes, I know, there is a huge bottle neck with the stock exhaust and I know I'm giving up about 20 hp) and I've yet to hear a "pop" out of it.

Yeah i have to agree with LT1derful you can't beat the sound of a mustang. They just sound so smooth and deep.

I have LM on mine and it never pops unless the engine isnt warmed up. However, I'm getting headers soon so I'll be ditching the LM for something a little more tame to compliment the headers.

not weird at all, I have shorties, stock cat and stock exhaust and mine sounds bad *** at WOT, quiet as hell at idle, and never pops...I like it! I am going to the Dynomouth because I'm a bit tired of the quiet exhaust and want something to let people know I'm there...

I just bought a LM today, i also grabbed an SLP Y-Pipe, and a K&N FIPK. I hope the LM isnt too horribly loud, i do drive with music on semi-loud. Other than that, my car is stock.

Same here. When i put on the AS&M headers and stock cat, my stock exhaust sounds good. Have gotten a few compliments. Heard a Mustang exhaust the other day, what gives it that sound? I can't really describe it exactly, kinda deep but raspy i guess.
