Sometime when turning slowly and a fairly sharp corner... like turning at an intersection... I get a dead spot while turning the wheel, more like a hard spot, then kinda real easy then normal, but all in a very short part of hte stearing wheel, and always turning left.

What would this be?

 

The only thing that comes to mind would be the power steering pump "cutting out" for lack of a better term. Why it would do that is beyond me, but I've had the same problem.
